Our shaggy little French Bulldog mix, Benny, arrived into FBV custody two weeks ago today.  Don't let all that fuzz fool you, Benny's father was a pure bred dark brindle French Bulldog and his mother was a French Bulldog/Shih Tzu cross who apparently looks a lot like Benny.

Benny has already lived in several homes in his short life.  His first home adopted Benny as a very young pup, but after just a couple of months they realized they weren't ready for a rambunctious puppy and they gave him to a friend, owner number two. Unfortunately for Benny, it wasn't long before his second owner's lifestyle changed and she didn't have the time and means to take care of Benny, so she gave him to her parents to look after, and Benny went into home number three. With three dogs of their own, and now Benny, the noise level went into the red zone! Nearby neighbors, annoyed with all that barking, contacted Animal Control and the Benny's new owners were cited for having four dogs when city ordinances allowed only three.  After only after a few months in his latest home, poor little Benny was shown the door once again, and this time it looked as though he was on his way to the local kill shelter.  Fortunately, FBV heard about his plight and agreed to take him in, fur and all!

Benny's foster Mom reports:  "I am so glad we were given the opportunity to bring Benny into the safety net of the French Bulldog Village.  Benny is a very shy, frightened little dog with a lot of anxiety.  He is afraid of strangers and hides behind me if anyone he does not know approaches him. If someone new comes into my home, Benny will growl at them until he gets used to their presence and has a chance to calm down.  I have no doubt that, with his current behaviors, if he had been surrendered to a shelter he would have been tagged for euthanasia.  Benny is very good with other dogs, and he is very sweet tempered with people once he gets to know them.  I hope that, with work on his socialization skills and some training, Benny will make a wonderful new addition for the right family. He is an adorable, sweet dog who just like any Frenchie or Frenchie mix, wants to feel safe, loved and pampered."
