Location: California

Age: 2 yrs old

Kirby was wandering the streets when he was picked up as a stray and taken to a California animal shelter two weeks ago.  Luckily for Kirby, an FBV volunteer spotted him at the shelter and picked him up! Poor Kirby arrived into his foster home in sad shape, dirty, with overgrown toenails, a upper respiratory infection and a nasty ear infection.  One ear is so badly infected it has developed polyps and may require surgery.

Kirby's foster mom, the FBV volunteer who took him out of the shelter, reports: "Kirby is a bit possessive of me, and I hope the neuter will help with less testosterone to contend with. He isn't a fighter, just grumps a bit when other dogs come too near me. Of course he gets a scolding, and I promptly walk away from him. He gives you puppy dog eyes, and tries to be a good frog. He is crate trained, and will use a doggy door. He is still puppyish enough that I don't trust him not to chew when left alone in the house, although in his defense he has not tried to chew anything here other than sticks when he is outside. The vet says he is no more than 2 yrs. old. He weighs around 23 pounds right now and is a bit thin. He loves to play with his ball, and will bring it back for you most of the time. He tends to guard his toys and food, so I wouldn't recommend small kids, although he seems to adore children. He is a snorter, and a very happy boy. Kirby likes all of the people that he meets, and he was good at the dog park today. He walks well on leash and is learning basic obedience."

His foster mom has Kirby on a raw diet to reduce the impact of his allergies, while she and her vet try to determine what the causes of his allergies are.

We hope that you will consider contributing to the K-Fund so that we can continue to come forward to  help Kirby and other French Bulldogs that come out of shelters.  If you can lend a hand with a donation in any amount, (every dollar counts!), Kirby and the rest of the K-kids would REALLY appreciate it!  Just click on the globe, and say it's for Kirby.  Thank you!
