When she could
no longer care for Spike, and his companion Lucy, Spike's owner
packed the two little dogs up and took them down the road to
give them to a neighbor, a professional dog handler who made his
living showing dogs, hoping that he would, through
his contacts, be able to find this unfortunate little pair new
homes. The dog handler contacted his friend who was a
local dog groomer, to ask her for help, and she just happened to
be a volunteer for the French Bulldog
Village!
Even in his
short life, this is not Spike's first change of circumstances.
He had
been purchased by his most recent owner from an ad
in the local newspaper, and now, just a year later, it was time
to move once more.

Fortunately for Spike, he hasn't had to go very
far. This little guy is so charming, with that lovely
soulful Frenchie mug guaranteed to melt anyone's heart, he never
made it out the door of the local groomer, now his new foster
mom. At first, she thought he might be deaf, but
she has
discovered that he is not deaf
after all, just so overwhelmed by his new surroundings and so happy to be around people, he couldn’t focus
at all. Could the boy be a Pug in a Frenchie suit?
Spike is very well mannered, whether he is at home or out in
public. He loves children and is very gentle with
them, and we hope in time to place him in a family with
children. Spike apparently has no health issues other than
a weak back end, but even that is starting to get stronger as he
gets more exercise. We hope with a little initial
care and attention, our Spike will soon be ready for a new home!
